Last week, I posted about the problems I’m having keeping this blog going. I explained how, while my usual preference is to plot out my posts, I have instead found myself pantsing, with no idea from week to week what I’m going to write about.
Well, the bad news is things have only gotten worse since then. Not only have I not actually planned my next post, but it seems my pantsing ability has flown away and abandoned me. I have absolutely no idea what that post should be about, and I can’t think of any kind of prompt I can give myself to remedy the situation.
I figure that this leaves me with no other option. It’s time to throw this blog open to requests. If I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to be blogging about, maybe I can lean on the greater wisdom of the general public to give me some ideas.
So here’s the pitch. I need your help. Please tell me what you think my next blog post should be about.
Should it be personal? Should I reveal some intimate details about my life? Should I lay myself bare, for the world to see me as I truly am?
Should it be professional? Should I share my wisdom, and my experience of the writing life? Should I provide knowledge and tips that will be invaluable to other writers out there?
Should it be funny? Should I offer wry and pithy observations about life? Should I enchant and amuse the general public with my wit and sparkle?
Should it be inspirational? Should I share a story about how I’ve overcome difficulties and challenges in my life? Should I try to leave my readers with a warm inner glow?
Should it be about my books? Do you want to hear a story about where ideas for stories or characters came from? Should I maybe post up an extract?
Or am I over-complicating it all? Should I just try to keep it simple, and write something friendly and informational? Should I just try to share something interesting but not necessarily life-changing?
Well, I suppose these are the choices. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Any assistance I can get with suggestions for my next post, and maybe a few of those to follow as well, would make my life so much easier.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s hear what you’ve got.
