My mind is really focussed – on lots of different things

It’s that time of the year. Things are winding down. Tasks that were begun a long time ago are now reaching their conclusion.

At this time of the year, it’s really important that I’m able to focus my mind, to make sure that I’m able to follow through on all the projects I commenced, to ensure they reach their goals.

The good thing is, my mind is really good at focussing. The bad thing is, that focus is usually split across an awful lot of different things.

Did I ever tell you that I really like cats. Not just domesticated moggies, but all members of the feline family. Lions and tigers and leopards and jaguars. Ounces and servals and margays and ocelots. There’s something about their imperious manner, not to mention their agility and skill, that I find quite captivating. I’d definitely like to incorporate them into a story at some point. Not quite sure what that story might be, or how these felines would fit in, but it’s definitely a goal for me.

I sometimes feel like I need to improve my typing. I’m quite a good typist. Not sure what my word limit per minute is, but I reckon it wouldn’t be too shabby. I’m totally self-taught – I was never given any lessons, and nor did I use any touch-typing software. But my technique is a bit odd. I use three fingers on my right hand but only one on my left hand (which is especially odd as I’m left-handed). Also, I prefer to hold a pen in my left hand while I type – I feel kind of naked if I don’t have one. I have no idea if at this point it’s too late and my typing skills are as good as they’re going to be, or if there’s something I might be able to do about it.

We’re just getting into summer down here. I know that’s probably not something you northern hemisphere people want to hear as you head into winter. To be honest, I’m not a huge summer person. I’m not a great swimmer and I sunburn way too easily. But there is one thing I really do like about summer – the fruit. I love summer fruit. In fact, I just finished eating a big juicy peach. It was pretty good. But I don’t just stop there. Plums and apricots are just as fine. And don’t forget the grapes and berries – yum.

Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, that’s right. Focus is not an issue for me. It’s figuring out exactly what I need to focus on that is the problem.
