Gargoyle: a New Adventure – guest post by Terry Persun

Hooray, today I’m participating in a cool event to celebrate the launch of fellow Booktrope author Terry Persun’s new fantasy novel, Gargoyle – book four of his Doublesight series. To commemorate the event, Terry has taken over my blog for the week. And keep an eye on his website – http://www.terrypersun.com/ – you may just see a little something from me.

Gargoyle: a New Adventure

9781620158876-Perfect.inddBook four of my Doublesight fantasy series just came out. Like most books in a series, it’s nice if you can read them in order, but you don’t have to. Gargoyle is one step further from that idea. The novel focuses on the son of main character from the first three books, Zimp of the crow clan. The book begins where Korlan, Zimp’s son, doesn’t even know what type of shape shifter he is. Here’s a short passage from the beginning of the novel, where he’s trapped in a cave.

Top 10 things about…something

Well, here I am again, trying to figure out what on earth to post on my blog this week.

Fortunately, I found a great way to brainstorm ideas. I spent some time looking around, to see what other people are posting on this big, wide, wonderful internet. And guess what I found?

It’s tough to be original when you’re being original

Well, of all the nonsensical blog post titles I’ve ever written, that’s possibility the most nonsensical of all. It’s tough to be original when you’re being original? What on earth is that supposed to mean? Has he finally lost all his marbles for sure?

I’ll try to explain the problem in a way that makes sense.

I can’t believe we’re at where we’re at

How on earth did that happen? Seems like I barely blinked and now suddenly we’re past the halfway mark for 2015 and rapidly moving onward to the finish.

Hard to believe that time can pass so quickly. Hard to believe that half a year has flown past. Time once again for a quick status update, to check how I’m going with my writing goals for the year.

My mind is like a swamp – ideas come slowly oozing out

Okay, so the title of this post makes it sound a bit iccky. I don’t mean to put any potential readers off, but it was the best analogy I could find.

Sure, I haven’t actually looked inside my head, and I suspect if I did it would look pretty gross. But being the squeamish kind anyway, that’s not something I’m about to do.

It’s more about the way I write. I’m not the sort of person who can finish off a story in a hurry. I like to take my time.
